Health Benefits of Not Eating Meat

Is meat good for you? This is one of the common doubts regarding consumption of meat. Meat, especially, red meat is said to cause various health problems. Regular meat consumption has been linked to high cholesterol levels, heart diseases, cancer, etc. Studies show that vegetarians have a low risk of cancer and heart disease,as compared to their counterparts. It has also been suggested that those who regularly consume meat, have high protein levels that leads to calcium loss from the bones and so, meat consumption is also related to osteroporosis. This can also lead to kidney stones and gallstones. It may also happen that such animals have some disease, that can be transmitted to humans. So, refraining from meat consumption may lower the risk of these health problems.
